Doug Cockle, the voice actor for Geralt of Rivia, believes that the bard Dandelion holds a special, albeit platonic, significance in Geralt's life throughout The Witcher 3. Cockle elaborated on this perspective during an interview with PC Gamer, suggesting that Dandelion may be Geralt's true counterpart, prioritizing him over romantic interests when necessary.

Cockle clarified that he would not describe their bond using the phrase "bros over hoes," deeming it "horrible." However, he noted a kernel of truth in how Geralt consistently prioritizes Dandelion's well-being. "Whenever Dandelion is in trouble, Geralt drops everything, and he's off to save him," Cockle stated.

This prioritization is evident in several in-game scenarios. The first main quest of The Wild Hunt, "Poet Under Pressure," sees Geralt actively searching for Dandelion, leading to Geralt dispatching a Witch Hunter and freeing the bard from captivity. Cockle pointed out that depending on player choices, Geralt might sideline romantic partners like Yennefer or Triss to rescue Dandelion. "Yes, it's one of his romantic interests. You know, at the drop of a hat, just goes. I gotta go [and save Dandelion]," he explained.

An example cited is the "Count Reuven's Treasure" quest, where Geralt must pursue information about Dandelion's location, even while Triss is undergoing torture. While other narrative justifications exist for these choices, and Triss is depicted as capable of defending herself, the focus often shifts to Dandelion's plight.

Conversely, Dandelion's voice actor, John Schwab, has indicated that Geralt's readiness to assist does not stem from enthusiastic anticipation. Cockle echoed this sentiment, suggesting Geralt's reaction is more of an exasperated "awe he's in trouble again." This perspective frames their relationship not as a simple friendship but as a deeply ingrained loyalty that shapes Geralt's actions, even when faced with significant personal or romantic entanglements.
