The father of the late Pokémon influencer Avery the Poké Kid has publicly requested that The Pokémon Company create a special trading card in honor of his son. Avery, a beloved figure in the Pokémon Trading Card Game community, passed away in September 2026 at the age of 12 after a seven-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

His family gained wider attention after his death when a video of his final Pokémon card pack opening went viral. In the clip, Avery excitedly pulls a 30th Anniversary Jirachi Special Illustration Rare card. Now, his father, Christian Garcia, has shared a plea on Instagram, asking the company to "immortalize" Avery within the hobby he cherished.

"Trying to figure out how to carry on Avery’s legacy has been the biggest challenge of the last couple months,” Garcia stated in the video. "I want to make a plea to anyone, literally anyone from The Pokémon Company: If you’re watching this video, I want to figure out how to immortalize him somehow in the trading card game he loved so much."

Garcia expressed his hope that a card would capture Avery's spirit, describing him as "the embodiment of a Pokémon Master." He added, "I think it would be the coolest thing to open up a pack of cards and chase our son. If someone at The Pokémon Company is watching, please get a hold of us."

Fellow collectors and fans have rallied behind the request, suggesting that a Jirachi-themed card would be a fitting tribute, given Avery's viral pull. Even the artist behind the 30th Anniversary Jirachi SIR card expressed deep emotion upon hearing Avery's story, stating, "I’m so glad I kept drawing. I’ve honestly been in tears ever since I saw this."

This plea follows an earlier statement from Avery's family in September, addressing the issue of scalpers exploiting his story to inflate the price of the Jirachi SIR card. The family clarified that they were not involved in or benefiting from these sales and requested that listings be taken down, emphasizing their need to mourn their son in peace.
