Marty O'Donnell, the composer behind the iconic Halo soundtrack, has lost his bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. His defeat in Nevada's third congressional district was significant, and the incumbent, Democrat Susie Lee, wasted no time in delivering a pointed message to O'Donnell following the election.
O'Donnell first entered politics in 2024, citing a desire to combat what he perceived as the growing control of "big tech, big pharma, big media, big whatever" over government. His initial attempt saw him place fourth in the Republican primary. He ran again in 2026, this time securing the Republican nomination after gaining the endorsement of then-President Donald Trump, despite having previously called Trump an "idiot."
Lee, who has held the seat since 2019, successfully defended her position against O'Donnell. The campaign saw O'Donnell employ rhetoric focused on issues such as open borders, Marxism, and the "woke left," alongside accusations of corruption against Lee. He also reportedly continued to reference his departure from Bungie.
Following his loss, Lee posted a message on social media directed at O'Donnell: "Susie Lee has a lot of class. And it's all low. Not as low as the voter turnout for you, big dawg." The post, which highlighted O'Donnell's defeat and seemingly low voter turnout, was widely interpreted as a severe blow. O'Donnell's reaction to Lee's message was reportedly negative, leading to further online exchanges.
