Acclaimed game director Hideo Kojima, known for his work on the Metal Gear Solid series and Death Stranding, has shared a peculiar thought on his own mortality. During a recent event, Kojima stated his wish to die in a movie theater at a very particular moment: just as a film is about to start. "I like the time before the movie starts the best," Kojima explained. "Enter the movie theater, the lights turn off, the commercials and trailers play, then just before the movie starts is when I want to pass away."

This sentiment aligns with Kojima's well-documented passion for cinema. His social media often features one-sentence movie reviews, and he has described himself as a game creator whose body is "70% made of movies." His deep connection to the film industry is further evidenced by his relationships with prominent Hollywood directors, including Oscar winners Guillermo del Toro and Jordan Peele. Kojima is currently collaborating with Peele on his upcoming horror game, OD.

While Kojima was reportedly asked to direct the film adaptation of his game Death Stranding, he declined the offer, citing concerns about providing excessive directorial input. The Death Stranding movie is instead being helmed by Michael Sarnoski, director of "Pig" and "A Quiet Place: Day One."
