Hideo Kojima, the visionary behind the Metal Gear and Death Stranding franchises, has revealed a peculiar yet fitting aspiration for his final moments: to pass away in a movie theater. The 62-year-old game designer shared his detailed plan on X, expressing a desire to die amidst the unique atmosphere of a cinema.

Kojima envisions his end occurring during the transitional period before a film begins. "I like the time before the movie starts the best," he stated. "Enter the movie theater, the lights turn off, the commercials and trailers play, then just before the movie starts is when I want to pass away." This meticulously planned scenario reflects Kojima's deep-seated passion for cinema, a passion that has heavily influenced his work and personal philosophy.

His lifelong devotion to film is well-documented, famously summarized in his social media bio: "70% of my body is made of movies." This sentiment is echoed within his games, such as in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, where players can recruit Kojima himself, with his character description reading: "70% of my existence is made of movies. It's up to you to decide what to do with the remaining 30%."

This cinematic fixation extends to his professional endeavors. Kojima Productions is currently collaborating with A24 on a film adaptation of Death Stranding. Kojima has indicated that this project aims to explore "a new dimension of cinematic adaptation that goes beyond merely turning a game into a live-action movie," suggesting an innovative approach to game-to-film transitions.
