A dedicated LEGO enthusiast has meticulously recreated a classic scene from the popular I Spy book series using only LEGO bricks. The MOC (My Own Creation), shared by Reddit user burnt-coding, is a faithful rendition of the "Blocks" illustration, which originally appeared in the first I Spy book.
Comparisons between the original artwork by Walter Wick and the LEGO version reveal an impressive level of detail and effort. While the builder managed to capture the essence of the scene, some elements required adaptation. The original illustration featured 11 bears, which were replaced with helmets in the LEGO build to achieve a similar visual density. Similarly, the three-headed dragon was substituted with three parrots. Although the minifigures do not precisely match the book's figures, they closely approximate the original design.
The recreation utilizes pieces from a wide array of LEGO sets, including recognizable elements from the Duplo Farm set. This ambitious project highlights the creativity within the LEGO fan community and its ability to evoke nostalgia for cherished childhood activities. The creator expressed a desire for such a build to become an official LEGO Ideas set.
The original I Spy book, featuring the "Blocks" scene as its first picture riddle, is still available for purchase. While slight variations may exist in newer editions, the core content remains the same, and elements from this scene also appear in subsequent I Spy Challenge books.
