Lucy Davis, acclaimed for her roles in the U.K. version of "The Office," the 2017 "Wonder Woman" film, and "Shaun of the Dead," has disclosed that she has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The actor made this announcement on Instagram on August 11, 2026, detailing that she received the stage four breast cancer diagnosis in early 2025. The cancer has since spread to her bones, affecting her spine, right hip, and ribs.

Davis stated that the cancer is incurable and beyond the reach of chemotherapy. She urged others to not ignore any physical changes, recounting that the initial sign was a tiny, hard spot she almost overlooked. "So I guess I’m saying don’t ignore anything — get everything checked out," she advised.

Her focus now is on living the remainder of her life in the most enjoyable way possible. Humor has been a critical element in her approach, with Davis encouraging friends and family to tease her and, more importantly, to avoid treating her as an unwell person. "There’s nothing that will make you feel more unwell than being treated as if you’re unwell," she explained.

Reflecting on her prognosis, Davis expressed a lack of fear, stating she is at peace and views leaving her physical body as returning home. She acknowledged that the grieving process will be hardest for her family. Davis also confirmed her intention to continue her work in animal rights, noting that while standing or walking for extended periods may become difficult and require a wheelchair, her capacity to contribute remains.

"For those of you on a similar journey to mine, I do wish you well," she wrote. "Cancer asks a lot from us, physically and mentally. And we all get to do it however we choose. Much love to you all."

Fellow actors and fans have offered widespread support. Piers Morgan described the news as "devastating" and praised her honesty, while Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beesly in the American "The Office," expressed love and support for Davis's message of continuing to work. Davis's acting career began in the early nineties, with notable roles including Dawn Tinsley in "The Office" and Etta Candy in "Wonder Woman," alongside numerous television appearances.
