A24 has unveiled a teaser trailer for the upcoming documentary "You Can See Everything," directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. The film chronicles the life of Elizabeth Holmes in the 34 days leading up to her imprisonment for defrauding investors in her blood-testing startup, Theranos.
Holmes is currently serving an 11-year sentence at Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas. She began her sentence on May 30, 2023, after being convicted for her role in the Theranos scandal. The documentary captures an unusual period where Holmes granted Fielder and a film crew unprecedented access to her home and activities.
The teaser footage presents an intense interaction between Fielder and Holmes. In one scene, Holmes looks directly at Fielder and asserts her genuineness, stating, "I’m not that person. I can promise you that." Fielder responds with skepticism, questioning her sincerity. Holmes maintains her stance, "I’m always being real," while rocking her infant child.
The documentary's existence was revealed following a secret screening at the Telluride Film Festival. Its synopsis describes the film as an intimate portrait that evolves into a "mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss." Fielder himself has expressed difficulty in fully comprehending his experiences during the filming, noting that he lived with Holmes and her family prior to her incarceration.
"You Can See Everything" is scheduled to premiere in theaters in October. Elizabeth Holmes is projected to be released from prison on August 16, 2032.
