Marvel Studios has reportedly cast Samara Weaving as the mutant telepath Emma Frost for its forthcoming X-Men movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The casting decision was reported by Deadline, marking one of the first actors officially attached to the new X-Men project.
According to the report, director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige considered a number of candidates before settling on Weaving for the role earlier this week. While specific details about other cast members for the X-Men project have not yet been revealed, it is understood that Schreier and Marvel are actively seeking actors for several other roles, suggesting more casting news may be forthcoming.
Emma Frost, who first appeared in the 1980s, is a prominent character in X-Men comic book history. She is primarily known for her telepathic abilities and her capacity to transform into a durable diamond form. It remains uncertain whether Frost will be portrayed as a villain or a hero aligned with the X-Men in this new cinematic iteration.
This will not be the first live-action portrayal of Emma Frost, as the character was previously played by January Jones in the films X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Additionally, Emma Frost was recently added to the roster of the video game Marvel Rivals in April 2025.
Samara Weaving is a familiar face in Hollywood, with a resume that includes roles in horror projects such as Ash vs Evil Dead, Ready or Not, and a supporting part in Scream 6. She also had a role in the 2017 film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Her recent work includes Ready or Not 2: Here I Come and Over Your Dead Body, both released in early 2025.
