San Diego Comic-Con 2026 proved once again to be a major highlight for the cosplay community, drawing out some of the most precise and visually striking costumes seen at any convention. Kotaku's photographers, working with Mineralblu, captured a diverse array of characters from various video games, comics, and animated series.

Among the standout creations were a remarkably accurate Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender and a notable interpretation of Lara Croft. The event also featured unsettlingly realistic Clickers from The Last of Us, alongside a group of Marvel Rivals cosplayers whose costumes appeared ready for a blockbuster film. A particularly inventive homemade inflatable Trogdor the Burninator from Homestar Runner also drew attention for its faithful, if absurd, execution.

Other notable cosplays included a striking interpretation of Invader Zim and a collection of Marvel characters such as Captain Mexico, Loki, and Jubilee from X-Men. From the world of gaming, characters like Ganondorf from Super Smash Ultimate, Executor from Elden Ring, and Sam from Death Stranding were present. Classic characters were also represented, with an Absolute Catwoman & Black Cat duo and a formidable Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Cosplayers also delved into more recent or niche properties, with a Gym Bro Skeletor from Masters of the Universe and Diskotek (a_ghannadian) appearing. The eclectic showcase also included a compelling rendition of Maleficent.

Mineralblu has compiled a YouTube video showcasing the event, offering a dynamic look at the craftsmanship on display. The collection of photographs highlights the dedication and skill of cosplayers in bringing fictional characters into the real world.
