Spider-Man: Brand New Day has slipped out of the top 10 highest-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe films on Rotten Tomatoes, even as it achieves massive success at the box office. The film, which has shattered records including the biggest domestic opening weekend in history, surpassing Avengers: Endgame, has already grossed over $1 billion and is projected to easily cross the $2 billion mark. Its momentum is expected to continue with a new IMAX release in North America for its second weekend.
While celebrating its financial triumphs, the film has experienced a minor setback in its critical reception as measured by Rotten Tomatoes. As noted by Forbes, its overall score has fallen to 89%, causing it to drop from the top 10 MCU films. The movie is now tied with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War at 11th place.
Other Spider-Man appearances within the MCU still rank higher, with Homecoming at 6th, Far From Home at 8th, and No Way Home at 5th. This shift in critical standing is likely to fuel discussions among fans, some of whom consider Brand New Day to be the best MCU Spider-Man movie and one of the greatest iterations of the character. Others have expressed reservations, with some attributing the dip to the villain not being a traditional Spider-Man antagonist.
