A retro-inspired keyboard from 8BitDo has reached its best price since Black Friday 2025 on Amazon. The Retro87, officially licensed from Microsoft, sports a translucent green shell reminiscent of the Xbox Crystal Green edition from 2004. The compact tenkeyless design saves desk space while preserving core functionality, and the keyboard is currently listed at £77 on Amazon, the best price seen since Black Friday 2025.
In terms of hardware, the Retro87 uses Kailh Jellyfish X switches (50g linear) with clear stems. The unit is hot-swappable, allowing the user to change switches without soldering. Wireless operation is supported via Bluetooth or the bundled 2.4GHz receiver, with USB-C wired use also available. Battery life is rated up to 300 hours over Bluetooth and 280 hours over the 2.4GHz connection. The keyboard includes programmable keys and eight RGB lighting effects, including an Xbox shortcut key that launches the Xbox Game Bar.
Design-wise, the Retro87 emphasizes color-matched, double-layer ABS keycaps and arrow keys styled to echo ABXY button shapes. It uses a US ANSI layout, so UK buyers should be aware that some keys sit in different positions; with English UK language settings, the layout functions without major issues.
The current £77 price on Amazon marks the best point since Black Friday 2025, making this an appealing option for Xbox enthusiasts or retro-keyboard fans looking for a compact, wireless, and highly programmable device. While not the absolute lowest price ever, the discount represents solid value given its hot-swappability, long battery life, and software programmability. For buyers prioritizing aesthetics, nostalgia, and flexible connectivity, the Retro87 stands out as a compelling purchase at this price point.
