For gamers seeking a high-quality PC controller without a premium price tag, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless PC Gaming Controller is currently available at a significantly reduced price. Typically retailing for $29.99, Amazon has dropped the cost by 20% to $23.99 for the lavender color variant. This discount makes it one of the most compelling options for a controller under $50.
The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C offers a suite of advanced features often found in more expensive peripherals. Its construction feels robust, with a comfortable matte texture that resists slipping. The controller utilizes magnetic Hall Effect switches for its joysticks and triggers, a technology designed to prevent wear and stick drift, even surpassing some high-end controllers like the PlayStation DualSense Edge and Xbox Elite in this regard. The joysticks also feature metal reinforcement for enhanced durability.
Customization is a key aspect of the Ultimate 2C, featuring additional R4 and L4 bumpers that can be remapped without requiring any additional software. It also includes a Turbo button and immersive rumble vibration. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and a 2.4GHz wireless connection via an included USB dongle, boasting a 1,000Hz polling rate for stable, low-latency performance.
This controller is compatible with Windows PCs, Android devices, and Steam. It is particularly well-suited for handheld gaming PCs such as the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, and Legion Go, providing a superior input experience for portable gaming. The lavender color option, while currently discounted, has been noted to look particularly appealing in person.
