Amazon has significantly reduced the prices on several top-tier DC hardcover comics, offering a prime opportunity for collectors to acquire premium editions. Among the notable discounts are volumes from the Absolute Batman initiative, Absolute Wonder Woman, and Grant Morrison's Superman run.
Absolute Batman Vol. 1: The Zoo has seen its price drop below $20, a 22% reduction from its standard retail price. This initiative reimagines Batman's origins, presenting him as an exceptionally physically conditioned crime-fighter who relies on his brawn and intellect to combat Gotham's darkness, diverging from the billionaire playboy persona.
Further bolstering the sale, Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 1 is available for $20.99 in hardcover, with its paperback edition priced at $16.77. The second volume, Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 2: As My Mothers Made Me, is also discounted to $21.40 in hardcover. These volumes offer a distinct take on the Amazonian princess, with one assessment suggesting they rival or even surpass the Batman series in quality.
Other significant markdowns include Batman/Superman: World's Finest Vol. 1, now $32.17 from its $49.99 MSRP, and Superman by Grant Morrison Omnibus, reduced to $47.63 from a $75 list price. The latter is particularly recommended for its stellar writing and unique perspective on the Man of Steel.
These discounted editions are part of DC's Absolute line, which typically features oversized, high-quality presentations of key comic storylines. The Absolute Batman series, in particular, is slated for an animated adaptation, with Scott Snyder attached as executive producer and showrunner. This animated project will reportedly exist independently of James Gunn's upcoming DCU and Matt Reeves' Batman film.
