In an effort to combat inflated market prices, Best Buy has introduced an invite-only system for purchasing the Pokémon Trading Card Game's Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box (ETB) at its retail price of $49.99. This move offers consumers a chance to acquire the desirable product at approximately 62% below its current market value on platforms like TCGplayer, where it commands a price closer to $130.50.
The Prismatic Evolutions ETB includes nine booster packs from the set, an exclusive Eevee promo card, 65 Eevee-themed card sleeves, 45 Energy cards, dice, condition markers, a player's guide, and a storage box.
Similar to Amazon's existing invite system for Pokémon TCG products, Best Buy's process requires customers to have a Best Buy account and be signed in. Users must select the 'Ask for an invite' option on the product page. Those who request an invite are then entered into consideration for future stock drops of this specific ETB. If selected, customers receive an email notification and are granted a 24-hour window to complete the purchase before the invite expires. Best Buy recommends using their app to receive real-time alerts for potential purchase opportunities.
While requesting an invite does not guarantee immediate selection, users remain on the list for subsequent restocks. This system aims to provide a more equitable way for collectors to obtain sought-after Pokémon TCG items at MSRP, bypassing the common issue of scalper bots and high secondary market prices that have become prevalent in the hobby.
