Gigabyte's Aorus Master 16 Gen 2 gaming laptop has received a substantial price reduction in Australia, with a $2,400 discount bringing its price down to A$6,599. This second-generation model combines AMD's Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor with NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, housed in a slim chassis designed for both gaming and creative workloads.
The Aorus Master 16 Gen 2 is engineered for high-refresh rate gaming at 1440p or 4K resolutions and demanding creative tasks. It features a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor capable of reaching 5.4 GHz with a 145W TDP and 128MB of 3D V-Cache, aiming to eliminate frame rate bottlenecks in demanding titles. Supporting this is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, which can operate at up to 175W and includes features like DLSS 4.5 and NVIDIA Studio drivers for enhanced performance and efficiency.
Despite its high-performance components, Gigabyte has managed to fit the Aorus Master 16 Gen 2 into a 19mm chassis constructed from a Magnesium-Aluminium Alloy. This design aims to provide rigidity and a premium feel while keeping the weight around 2.3kg and reducing the overall size by 17% compared to the previous generation without compromising thermal performance. The system can achieve up to 230W of total power in Turbo Mode.
The display is a 16-inch WQXGA Next-Gen SDC OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.2ms response time, promising a blur-free visual experience. It also boasts HDR 1000 certification and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio for deep blacks and accurate colors. For audio, the laptop features a 4-Speaker Dual-Force Setup with support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, intended to provide clear and immersive sound.
This combination of powerful hardware, a high-quality OLED display, and a refined chassis positions the Gigabyte Aorus Master 16 Gen 2 as a significant contender in the premium gaming laptop market. The current pricing makes it a more accessible option for competitive gamers and digital creators seeking high-end performance in a relatively compact form factor. Last year's model of the Aorus Master 16 received an 8/10 rating in an IGN review.
