Amazon is currently offering the digital extended editions of The Lord of the Rings film trilogy for $15, a substantial reduction from its usual $45 price. This deal follows the recent re-release of the video game The Lord of the Rings: War in the North.

The extended editions of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King are available in this digital bundle. The first film debuted in 2001, with its sequels released in 2002 and 2003. The trilogy achieved critical and commercial success, culminating in The Return of the King winning 11 Academy Awards in 2004, including Best Picture and Best Director for Peter Jackson. The franchise is set to expand further with new film projects, including "The Hunt for Gollum" scheduled for 2027.

In the gaming sphere, while recent titles like The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and Tales of the Shire have received mixed reception, a new "deeply immersive" game is reportedly in development by Warhorse, the studio behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Additionally, Crystal Dynamics, known for the Tomb Raider series, is also said to be working on a Lord of the Rings game. Further re-releases of classic Lord of the Rings video games are also anticipated.
