Amazon is offering the Meta Quest 3S 128GB VR headset at a reduced price of $296.79 as part of its Prime Day sale, featuring an instant $53 discount. This bundle also includes 2,000 in-game currency for Gorilla Tag and associated DLC items for the popular free-to-play VR game. This deal effectively brings the headset back to its original retail price of $299.99.
The Meta Quest 3S was initially launched as the most affordable standalone VR headset for consumers. Despite a price increase to $350 last year, it remains the most budget-friendly option. The headset is priced $200 less than the Quest 3, while retaining much of its core hardware and functionality. This includes the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 CPU, Touch Plus controllers with inside-out tracking, and mixed reality passthrough capabilities.
Where the Quest 3S differs from its more expensive counterpart is in its optics. It largely uses the Fresnel lenses found in the original Quest 2. While not as advanced as the Quest 3's lenses, they still provide an immersive visual experience.
For individuals new to VR gaming or those considering a VR headset as a gift for a first-time user, the Quest 3S is recommended, especially at this discounted price point. This makes it an accessible entry into the world of virtual reality gaming.
