For racing game enthusiasts seeking an upgrade from entry-level gear, Best Buy is offering a $30 discount on the Moza Racing R5 Direct Drive Racing Wheel and Pedal Set. This deal brings the price down to $349.99 with free shipping and is exclusively for PC players.
While not the steepest discount, it's notable given that Moza wheels are already competitively priced and seldom go on sale throughout the year. The R5 model distinguishes itself with 5.5Nm of direct drive force feedback, a significant step up from belt-driven or gear-driven wheels. Direct drive technology allows for immediate and precise force feedback with zero latency, enhancing immersion by directly connecting the wheel to the motor.
Moza R5 Bundle Details
The Moza R5 bundle includes the wheel, wheelbase, and pedals. The wheel itself features an 11-inch aluminum alloy rim with microfiber leather grips, an RGB sequential shift light indicator, and 22 programmable buttons. The wheelbase is constructed from aviation-grade aluminum, incorporates intelligent temperature control, and uses a 15-bit ultra-high resolution encoder. The pedals are made of high-strength steel with Hall Effect sensors for accurate input.
Compared to other direct drive options, the Moza R5 offers strong value. Competitors like Logitech's G RS50 are priced at $600, Fanatec's CSL DD Ready2Race Bundle at $540, Simagic's Green Flag Bundle at $600, and Thrustmaster's T598 at $466. While some of these may offer higher torque or console compatibility, Moza presents a compelling option for budget-conscious sim racers.
PC Exclusivity and Game Compatibility
It is important to note that the Moza R5 is strictly for PC use and does not support console gaming. This setup is ideal for competitive racing simulators such as Assetto Corsa, Automobilista, and Le Mans Ultimate. It will also function with more arcade-style titles like Forza Horizon 6, though these games are often optimized for controller input. Upcoming titles like Assetto Corsa EVO, currently in Steam Early Access with a planned 2027 release, represent prime use cases for this direct drive wheel.
