WD SN850P 1TB PS5 SSD Deal Details
The WD SN850P is designed to meet Sony's requirements for PS5 internal storage expansion. This includes a minimum read speed of 5,500MB/s, a PCI-Express Gen4x4 interface, and an integrated slim heatsink that fits within the PS5's expansion bay. The drive's official licensing means it bears the PS5 logo, though this is cosmetic as it is not visible once installed.
Beyond its PS5 compatibility, the SN850P also functions as a high-performance boot drive for gaming PCs. It boasts read speeds of up to 7,300MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,600MB/s, placing it among the faster PCIe Gen4 SSDs. A notable feature is its dedicated LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which can offer performance advantages for PC users over DRAM-less SSDs that rely on Host Memory Buffer (HMB).
The built-in heatsink eliminates the need for a separate purchase and installation, simplifying the upgrade process. While other SSDs may be available at similar price points, the SN850P is from a well-established manufacturer.
