Securing a discounted NVIDIA RTX 4080 during Prime Day events is most likely to occur when purchasing a prebuilt gaming PC. Several such systems are currently available with appealing price points.
PC Gamer has identified four prebuilt gaming PCs worth considering. While the $2,350 Andromeda Insights model at Newegg might seem like the cheapest option, investing an additional $150 in the Stormcraft Phantom system, priced at $2,500 also at Newegg, is recommended. This slightly more expensive option includes a more capable Core Ultra 7 265 processor and a 2 TB SSD, a significant advantage given the current high cost of storage upgrades.
For gamers prioritizing CPU performance, an Andromeda Insights rig featuring the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is available for $2,800. This CPU is recognized as the best for gaming due to its 3D V-Cache technology. However, the additional $300 cost over the Stormcraft Phantom may not be justifiable unless the specific benefits of 3D V-Cache are paramount. Similarly, the Alienware Aurora at the same $2,800 price point offers a Core Ultra 9 285K processor, which provides superior multi-threaded performance but comes with a smaller 1 TB SSD. For those focused purely on PC gaming, the AMD rig is likely the preferable choice.
The RTX 4080 itself represents a significant investment, often exceeding $1,200, making any discount a valuable consideration, especially with current high prices for RAM and storage. Prebuilt systems often bundle such components, offering a more accessible entry point to high-end graphics technology during sale periods.
