Storage prices have seen a notable increase this year, but a limited-time offer from Best Buy provides a chance to save over 50% on a 2TB internal SSD. This PCIe Gen 4 x4 M.2 2230 SSD is designed for gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. Currently priced at $259.99, this deal represents a substantial reduction from its $531.99 MSRP. The offer is only available today.
WD - BLACK SN770M 2TB Internal SSD for $259.99
The convenience of handheld gaming PCs allows players to access their libraries almost anywhere. However, the cost of additional storage, including microSD cards and SSDs, has risen recently, partly attributed to demand from AI data centers. This deal brings down the price for 2TB of fast internal storage for the Steam Deck and ROG Ally.
Upgrading the storage requires some technical skill. Users will need to open their devices, replace the existing SSD, and then recover or re-image the operating system. While not overly complex, it is more involved than inserting a microSD card. Guides for upgrading the Steam Deck are available from Ifixit, and ROG Ally owners can find instructions on the Republic of Gamers website.
For those who prefer an easier installation or have a Prime membership, a 2TB Lexar microSD card is available for the same price on Amazon as part of their Prime Big Deal Days sale, also for today only. Alternative storage options include a 512GB version for $67.99 and a 1TB version for $127.49. While these microSD cards are simpler to install, they offer less convenience than a single internal storage device.
