Refurbished units of Sony's flagship WH-1000XM6 wireless noise-canceling headphones are currently available for $286, representing a nearly 40% discount from their new retail price of $460. This deal is being offered through eBay by Secondipity, a large Sony liquidator, and includes free shipping. According to customer feedback from Secondipity, the refurbished headphones are virtually indistinguishable from new units. Additionally, the purchase comes with an extended two-year Allstate warranty.
The WH-1000XM6, released in 2025, is the successor to the WH-1000XM5. Sony has enhanced both sound quality and noise cancellation in the new model, incorporating a more powerful QN3 audio processor and twelve beam-forming microphones designed to effectively isolate and cancel out ambient noise. The headphones also feature improved ergonomics, with hinged earcups that allow for inward folding, making them more compact for storage in the included carrying case. A single charge provides up to 30 hours of playback, and a three-minute USB Type-C charge can yield an additional three hours of use.
While older models like the XM5 or XM4 are available at lower price points, the WH-1000XM6's advancements in audio performance, noise cancellation, and comfort make it a worthwhile investment for those within budget. The refurbished offering provides an opportunity to acquire the latest technology at a reduced cost, with the assurance of a comprehensive warranty.
