For a limited time, Amazon's Prime Day event includes a significant discount on The Legend of Zelda: The Complete Series DVD, available for $8.99. This price represents a 55% reduction from its standard $19.98 price.
The animated series, which originally aired for one season in 1989, compiles all 13 episodes onto a single disc. While the collection does not feature any special bonus content, it serves as a nostalgic look back at television animation from the late 1980s. The show's narrative follows the plot of the original NES game, depicting Link and Princess Zelda defending Hyrule from the villainous Ganon.
IGN's original review of the DVD collection in 2005 described it as a "cheesy bit of Zelda nostalgia" primarily appealing to long-time fans of the series. The review noted that while dedicated fans might appreciate it, a wider audience could find the production quality to be low.
Those interested in sampling the series before purchasing can find it available for streaming on Prime Video or for free on Tubi.
This deal coincides with other discounts on TV and movie collections for Prime Day. Notable among these are HBO's "It: Welcome to Derry" at $29.99 (down from $44.98) and the "Adventure Time: The Complete Series" box set, a 22-disc collection, priced at $33.24 (down from $49.99).
In related Legend of Zelda news, Sony's live-action film adaptation has reportedly completed its principal photography as of April. Details remain scarce, but early production stills have shown characters resembling Link and Zelda in attire inspired by "Breath of the Wild."
