The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 CPU tower cooler, known for its exceptional performance at an affordable price, has reached its best price of the year on Amazon UK. The retailer indicates that this deal marks the lowest price point for the cooler in the past 365 days, making it a prime opportunity for PC builders and upgraders.
This dual-tower air cooler is lauded for its ability to effectively manage heat for a wide range of AMD and Intel processors, including high-end chips, without excessive fan noise. Its design features six heatpipes and is equipped with two 120mm Thermalright TL-C12 PWM fans. These fans can reach speeds up to 1500 RPM, offering up to 66.17 CFM of airflow, a specification that rivals more expensive offerings from brands like Noctua and be quiet!.
The combination of its dual-tower construction, dual fans, and six heatpipes provides substantial cooling headroom. This configuration helps ensure that the fans do not need to operate at maximum speed even under heavy loads, contributing to a quieter system during general use. The PWM control allows the fans to ramp up only when necessary, balancing acoustics and thermal performance.
Compatibility is extensive, with support for AMD's AM4 and AM5 sockets, as well as Intel sockets from LGA115x up to the more recent LGA1851. This makes it suitable for current-generation CPUs from both manufacturers. The cooler features a two-tone grey aesthetic, designed to integrate well into various PC builds.
Potential buyers should verify case and RAM clearance before purchasing. The cooler stands approximately 155mm tall, and taller RAM modules may interfere with the front fan. However, the fan clips can be repositioned to offer additional clearance. Thermalright includes all necessary mounting hardware and thermal paste, ensuring a complete out-of-the-box experience.
At its current discounted price of £23, the Peerless Assassin 120 offers significant value, representing a substantial upgrade over stock CPU coolers and competing effectively with air coolers in much higher price brackets. This makes it a particularly attractive option for budget-conscious builds or for those looking to replace an older, less efficient cooler.
