The gaming PC market has seen a scarcity of compelling options in the $1,000 to $1,500 range recently, largely due to a global memory shortage. However, a Stormcraft gaming PC featuring an RTX 5060 Ti graphics card has emerged, priced at $1,150, presenting a rare opportunity for budget-conscious buyers.
The primary compromise in this build is its memory configuration: a single 16GB stick of DDR4 RAM. While not ideal, 16GB of RAM is still sufficient for most modern gaming needs in 2026. Additionally, using DDR4 RAM and operating in single-channel mode, while not optimal, does not drastically impact performance to the extent of being a dealbreaker for many users. Testing has shown that while this configuration may result in a slight decrease in frame rates compared to systems with more RAM or dual-channel memory, the difference is often not substantial, especially in GPU-bound games.
The system is powered by an Intel Core i5-14400F processor and an RTX 5060 Ti GPU, coupled with a 650W power supply. The compact design, with the PSU housed at the rear, contributes to an appealing aesthetic. The processor remains a capable choice for budget and mid-range gaming rigs. Performance benchmarks indicate that the RTX 5060 Ti, in some titles, rivals the RTX 5060, and in others, offers a noticeable improvement, though it still falls short of the RTX 5070. At 1080p resolution, the PC should perform admirably, and even at 1440p, acceptable frame rates can be achieved with adjustments to game settings and the use of upscaling technologies.
For those looking to improve performance further, an upgrade to a 32GB DDR4 RAM kit is a straightforward option. A decent 32GB kit of DDR4 RAM can be purchased for approximately $195. This would bring the total cost to under $1,400, a competitive price for an RTX 5060 Ti system with 32GB of RAM in the current market. Even with the single stick of DDR4, the PC remains a worthwhile purchase for budget-minded gamers, with the flexibility to upgrade the RAM later.
