Anya Taylor-Joy's animated space adventure, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, is set to stream on Netflix beginning November 30. The film, a sequel to 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie, sees Taylor-Joy reprising her role as Princess Peach.

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the film produced by Illumination and Nintendo follows Mario and Luigi on a galaxy-spanning adventure after their initial victory over Bowser. The plot escalates when Bowser Jr. kidnaps Princess Rosalina and takes her to a remote region of space, forcing Mario, Luigi, and a new ally, Yoshi (voiced by Donald Glover), to embark on a rescue mission.

The film achieved significant commercial success, surpassing $1 billion at the global box office. Despite its financial performance, critical reception was mixed. While Polygon's review praised its "diverse animation styles," other outlets like The Guardian and The Independent offered more critical assessments, citing a lack of humor and blandness.

The full cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina, Jack Black as Bowser, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Donald Glover as Yoshi, Glen Powell as Fox McCloud, Luis Guzmán as Wart, Issa Rae as Honey Queen, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Given the film's box office performance and the extensive lore available from Nintendo's Mario franchise, the possibility of a sequel is high, especially following a post-credit scene that introduced another character. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is currently available on Peacock.
