Avatar: Seven Havens Premieres This Week on Paramount+

The world of Avatar is expanding with the premiere of Avatar: Seven Havens this week on Paramount+. This new 2D animated series, helmed by original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, introduces Pavi, an Earthbender and the first new Avatar in more than 10 years. The series is set approximately 300 years after the events of The Last Airbender, taking place over 200 years after the conclusion of The Legend of Korra.

Seven Havens will stream exclusively on Paramount+, under the Skydance banner. The season comprises 26 half-hour episodes, divided into two "Books," which is the Avatar franchise's equivalent of seasons. Book 1, consisting of 13 episodes, begins its rollout on October 9 with the first three episodes. Following the premiere, new episodes will be released in batches every Friday, with all 13 episodes of Book 1 available by the end of October.

Seven Havens Episode Release Schedule

  • October 9: "On the Horizon," "Into the Storm," "The Order"
  • October 16: "The Faceless," "The One Left Behind," "The Night of the Inflicted"
  • October 23: "What Lies Beneath," "The Envoys, Part 1," "The Envoys, Part 2"
  • October 30: "Ghosts and Spirits," "Battle of the Ruins," "The Dome," "The Root Chakra"

While past Avatar series have eventually received DVD and Blu-ray releases, Seven Havens is unlikely to follow this path given Paramount+'s current strategy. Early promotional materials suggest a post-apocalyptic world where the Avatar concept is largely disdained, hinting at significant events that may have transpired between The Legend of Korra and this new series. The extended time jump could imply a disruption in the Avatar Cycle or an unusually long lifespan for Korra.

Paramount has been actively developing the Avatar franchise. Most recently, the animated movie Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, featuring the original Gaang as adults, was released. Although it was reportedly leaked online, the film was well-received. Further details regarding the future of Seven Havens, including potential release windows for Book 2, and other Avatar projects like the fighting game, are expected to be announced at NYCC.
