Warner Bros. has announced a release date shift for its upcoming Robin-centric animated film, Dynamic Duo, moving it from June 30, 2028, to September 22, 2028. The studio aims to position the film as a back-to-school release for teen and college audiences, while also avoiding a direct conflict with Paramount's planned Call of Duty movie on the original date.
Alongside the delay, the film has revealed a notable voice cast. Mason Thames is set to voice Dick Grayson, with Logan Kim as Jason Todd, and Marsai Martin as Barbara Gordon. Lee Pace will portray Red Hood 1, and Steve Buscemi will voice Red Hood 2. Chris Pine has reportedly been offered the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Dynamic Duo will explore the origins of both Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. The film is directed by Arthur Mintz, with a script by Matthew Aldrich. Its visual style will reportedly combine miniatures, puppetry, animatronics, models, and CGI, rather than relying solely on traditional animation.
This animated feature will not be part of James Gunn's new DC Universe canon. It is expected to be categorized as an Elseworlds story, operating as a standalone narrative. Gunn's DCU plans involve introducing its own version of Batman in The Brave and the Bold, with no current integration planned for Robert Pattinson's Batman iteration.
