A recent listing on movie database site The-Numbers.com has fueled speculation that Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2 could arrive in September 2027. The site details an untitled film from Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures scheduled for release on September 15, 2027.
Sony, through its subsidiary Aniplex, holds distribution and streaming rights for the Demon Slayer franchise, making it a plausible, though unconfirmed, candidate for the next installment in the blockbuster anime series. This comes as One Piece Film: God Valley, another highly anticipated anime movie, has already announced a summer 2027 release.
While Sony Pictures is listed as the production company, Aniplex is not explicitly mentioned, which could suggest the film might not be Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2. However, given Aniplex's ownership by Sony, this discrepancy might simply be a matter of how the listing was compiled.
The listing's mention of France as a distribution territory also complicates its connection to One Piece Film: God Valley, which is produced by Toei Animation and distributed by Sony/Crunchyroll in North America, but not in France. Ultimately, the exact nature of the untitled film remains speculative.
Fans are advised to await official announcements from Crunchyroll or Aniplex before treating the September 2027 date as confirmed. In the meantime, the first film in the Infinity Castle arc, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle, is now available to stream on Hulu and Netflix.
The previous film in the arc concluded its theatrical run with a substantial $793 million worldwide gross, setting high expectations for its successor.
