Netflix is developing a live-action series based on the popular battle royale game PUBG, with Donald Glover attached to direct, write, executive produce, and star.
Krafton, the game's publisher, announced the adaptation on October 30. Glover's brother, Stephen Glover, who co-wrote the series Atlanta with him, will also serve as a writer and executive producer. Michael Schaefer for Neon TV, Fam Udeorji for Gilga, and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee for Krafton's entertainment arm, LV3H, are also executive producing. LV3H will be involved in both the development and production of the show.
Details regarding the series' release window, plot, and casting beyond Glover remain undisclosed. Glover is a multiple award-winning talent known for his work on Atlanta and Community.
PUBG, credited with popularizing the battle royale genre, has achieved significant global success and holds seven Guinness World Records. This adaptation follows Krafton's recent decision to end development of PUBG: Black Budget, an extraction shooter spin-off announced less than a year prior. Krafton's other notable titles include Subnautica and InZoi.
