Elden Ring Movie Runtime Could Exceed Three Hours, Potential Twitch Integration Eyed

The upcoming A24 film adaptation of From Software's Elden Ring may boast a runtime of around three hours, according to recent reports. The film, which finished principal photography earlier this year and is currently in post-production with Industrial Light & Magic, is slated for a March 2028 theatrical release.

Amazon MGM is reportedly acquiring the Pay-1 streaming rights for the Elden Ring movie in various international territories for a sum potentially reaching tens of millions of dollars. This deal would grant Amazon exclusive broadcasting rights after the film's theatrical and home video runs conclude. Additionally, discussions are underway for potential "interesting activations" on Amazon's Twitch platform as part of the partnership. While the exact streaming destination post-theatrical release remains unconfirmed, the involvement of Amazon MGM suggests a strong possibility of a future appearance on Prime Video.

Written and directed by Alex Garland, the film's narrative details are being kept under tight wraps, a secrecy underscored by A24's reported practice of having staffers present when potential international rights buyers review the script, rather than distributing it digitally. The script itself is said to be at least 180 pages long, which would account for the substantial runtime.

The movie stars Kit Connor in the lead role, facing off against "impressive monsters and dragons." The ensemble cast also includes Cailee Spaeny, Ben Whishaw, Tom Burke, Jonathan Pryce, and Nick Offerman. Producing the film reportedly cost as much as $200 million, making it A24's most expensive production to date. Should the film prove successful, there is potential for Elden Ring to become a movie franchise, though no official sequel plans have been announced.
