Fourth Wing TV Series Casts Lead Roles of Xaden and Violet

Prime Video's television adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' bestselling romantasy series, Fourth Wing, has reportedly cast its lead actors. According to a report from Deadline, Esther McGregor is set to play Violet Sorrengail, and Emilio Sakraya will take on the role of Xaden Riorson. This marks the first casting announcement for the anticipated series and introduces the actors who will embody the central relationship of the novels.

McGregor is known for her role as Isabel in A24's Baby Girl and appeared as Tetha Grig in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sakraya gained recognition for his portrayal of Giwar Hajabi in the 2022 film Rheingold and was also featured in the first season of Netflix's Warrior Nun.

In Yarros' Fourth Wing books, Violet Sorrengail is the protagonist, often described as frail but possessing a hidden strength. Xaden Riorson is depicted as a powerful and enigmatic figure. Both characters attend Basgiath War College, where they train to harness dragon-given powers. The success of the series is expected to hinge on the chemistry between McGregor and Sakraya in portraying the complex dynamic between Violet and Xaden.

Meredith Averill is serving as showrunner and executive producer for the Fourth Wing TV series. Rebecca Yarros and Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society are also executive producing. A release date for the series has not yet been announced.

Alongside the TV adaptation, Yarros is actively involved in developing book four of the Empyrean series and has collaborated on several tabletop game adaptations of the franchise. Her recent standalone novel, Threshing Day, offers perspectives from various characters on the day they received their dragons.
