Garth Ennis, the visionary behind the ultra-violent comic series The Boys, is set to adapt another of his boundary-pushing works, Crossed, into a feature film. Collaborating with director Rob Jabbaz, known for his extreme horror film The Sadness, the project promises to bring one of Ennis's most wicked comic tales to the screen.
A teaser trailer for the adaptation was recently unveiled, offering a glimpse into the extreme horror experience that awaits audiences. The film is produced by Los Angeles company Six Studios.
What is 'Crossed' About?
The Crossed comic series follows a group of survivors struggling against a mysterious plague that infects individuals, marking them with a red cross on their foreheads. These infected, known as the Crossed, are driven by their worst impulses, committing acts of extreme violence, rape, and murder without remorse. Unlike traditional zombies, the Crossed act on intrusive thoughts made irresistible by the infection.
Ennis himself penned the screenplay, drawing from the original 10-issue comic run. The film boasts a notable cast, including Devin Druid and Ash Santos as Stan and Cindy, two of the survivors. Other cast members feature Bob Morley, Steven Hack, Ethan Jones Romero, Chido Nwokocha, Spenser Granese, Kyla Hee, Ana Mulvoy Ten, and Lorenzo Ross in his acting debut. Owen Harn is set to portray the leader of the infected, a villain known as Horsecock.
While a specific release date has not yet been announced, the film is slated to arrive sometime soon. For fans of Ennis's particular brand of brutal storytelling, Crossed is poised to deliver the graphic spectacle they've come to expect.
