Filmmaker Michael Mann, known for directing the crime classic Heat, was hospitalized for minor injuries after accidentally shooting himself in the leg at a Los Angeles gun range on Halloween. His representative confirmed the incident, stating that a weapon discharged accidentally while holstered.

Mann, 83, received treatment and was in the process of being released from the hospital. The incident reportedly occurred during a training exercise, and sources indicated the director had no intention of harming himself. Details surrounding the exact circumstances remain unclear.

This mishap occurred as Mann is actively working on the highly anticipated Heat 2. Christian Bale had previously confirmed his involvement in the project, with filming slated to begin in Chicago. Leonardo DiCaprio is also attached to the film, reportedly playing Vincent Hanna while Bale portrays Chris Shiherlis. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Stephen Graham are also expected to join the cast. The film's plot will draw from Mann's novel of the same name.

Mann's directorial credits also include "Ferrari," "Public Enemies," and "Manhunter." He recently premiered a director's cut of his 2006 film "Miami Vice."
