Hirayasumi Anime's First Episode to Premiere in NYC Ahead of 2027 Debut

The acclaimed manga Hirayasumi is set to receive its first public screening of its anime adaptation, with Episode 1 set to debut during a special event at New York City's Japan Society on October 7. This exclusive preview will precede the anime's official launch in 2027.

The event will commence at 7 PM ET and will feature a panel with composer Kaori Sawada, producer Junichi Katsutani, and VIZ Media's Godswill Ugwa. The panel will delve into the process of adapting the popular manga for the screen. Tickets for the screening are available through the Japan Society website.

Serialized in Weekly Big Comic Spirits since 2021, Hirayasumi has achieved global recognition, with over 1.7 million copies in circulation across ten volumes. The manga has been honored with the 71st Shogakukan Manga Award and was named Best Serial Comic at Lucca Comics & Games 2024.

The series' official description characterizes the protagonist, Hiroto Ikuta, as a carefree 29-year-old content with his life despite lacking a girlfriend, a full-time job, or a future plan. His optimistic outlook contrasts with a world often filled with anxiety and grief, as Hiroto and those around him navigate life's challenges.

An official teaser trailer for the anime is also available.
