Filming has concluded on Amazon's television adaptation of the narrative adventure game Life Is Strange, and Michel Koch, co-creator and director of the 2015 title, has offered high praise for the upcoming series. Koch recently visited the set of the show and described the experience as a career highlight.
"This month, I experienced one of the most surreal weeks of my life," Koch stated in an Instagram post. "Being on the set of the #lifeisstrange show with my close friends Jean-Luc [Cano] and Luc [Baghadoust], surrounded by such an amazing bunch of people was a highlight of my career." He expressed pride in the work accomplished by the show's team.
Koch specifically acknowledged Tatum Grace Hopkins and Maisy Stella, who are portraying Max and Chloe, respectively. A photograph shared by Koch, appearing to be taken within the show's rendition of the iconic Two Whales Diner, offered one of the clearest glimpses yet of the characters' live-action appearances.
Koch, along with fellow original game staff Jean-Luc Cano and Luc Baghadoust, visited the set despite developer Don't Nod no longer owning the rights to the Life Is Strange series. Following the release of Life Is Strange 2, which Don't Nod also developed, the franchise rights were transferred to Deck Nine. Square Enix is listed as a producer on the TV series, while Don't Nod is not officially involved.
The inclusion of the original creators in some capacity, even through a set visit, signals a respect for the franchise's origins. This gesture is likely to resonate with fans who hold the characters and their stories in high regard. The Life Is Strange TV series is slated to stream on Amazon Prime, though a release date has not yet been announced.
