Paramount Pictures Developing Live-Action Cyberpunk 2077 Movie

Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a live-action movie adaptation of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, according to a report from Deadline. The film will be set within the established world of CD Projekt Red's role-playing game, which has already expanded into other media including novels, comics, and the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Lorenzo di Bonaventure, known for producing multiple entries in the Transformers film series, is set to produce the Cyberpunk 2077 movie. His other production credits include films such as Snake Eyes and Madame Web. Details beyond di Bonaventure's involvement remain scarce, and the project appears to be in the early stages of development.

With Cyberpunk 2077's extensive narrative, encompassing the main story of V and Johnny Silverhand's conflict with Arasaka Corporation, the spy-thriller elements of the Phantom Liberty expansion, and numerous side quests, Paramount has a wealth of material to draw from. Given its early development status, it may be some time before further information about the film becomes available.

This move into adapting video game properties for the screen is part of a broader trend for Paramount. The studio is also co-producing the upcoming Street Fighter movie and is developing a live-action film based on Activision's long-running Call of Duty series, with Peter Berg attached to direct.
