PlayStation 5 to Feature Dedicated Crunchyroll Hub in Spring 2027

Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Hideaki Nishino revealed that the PlayStation 5 will receive a dedicated Crunchyroll hub on its home screen beginning in Spring 2027. The announcement was made at the Crunchyroll Anime Future Forum. This integration aims to consolidate anime content, anime-inspired games, and direct access to the Crunchyroll streaming service into a single location on the PS5. With a global installed base exceeding 92 million units, the PS5 represents a significant platform for reaching anime enthusiasts. Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini stated that this move fulfills the goal of meeting fans where they already spend their time, highlighting the partnership between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Crunchyroll. Players will find a central place to discover new anime titles and games, as well as easily launch the Crunchyroll application. This initiative further deepens the relationship between Sony's gaming division and its anime streaming subsidiary, which Funimation acquired for nearly $1.2 billion in 2021.
