Following an extended 70-day exclusive theatrical run, Marvel's blockbuster hit Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially landed on Video on Demand (VOD) platforms. Consumers can now rent or purchase the film through digital storefronts such as Prime Video, Google Play, and Apple TV. Renting the movie typically costs $24.99, with a purchase price of $29.99 on services like Prime Video.
The film's theatrical performance shattered expectations and numerous box office records. Spider-Man: Brand New Day debuted with an astounding $360 million domestically, surpassing Avengers: Endgame for the largest opening weekend in history. It continued its record-breaking streak, ultimately becoming the highest-grossing film domestically with $950 million and ranking as the third-highest-grossing film worldwide at $2.5 billion, trailing only Avatar and Endgame. These figures, while not adjusted for inflation, represent a significant cinematic achievement.
In addition to its digital availability, a physical release for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for December 15, 2026. The movie will be offered on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD, with a collector's edition Steelbook also planned.
Future of Spider-Man and the MCU
Given the film's immense success and positive critical reception, a sequel is confirmed to be in development, with director Destin Daniel Cretton set to return. However, this sequel is likely several years away, as Cretton is currently engaged with his live-action adaptation of Naruto, which is slated to begin filming in 2027.
The broader Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for its next major event with Avengers: Doomsday, a Dr. Doom-centric film scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Following that, Avengers: Secret Wars, a direct sequel, is currently planned for December 17, 2027, though recent reports suggest filming may have been delayed to early 2027. After the Avengers saga concludes, the MCU is expected to move into Phase Seven, with planned projects including an X-Men film, a Ghost Rider movie starring Ryan Gosling, and a third Black Panther installment.
