Steven Soderbergh to Complete The Batman Part II Amidst Matt Reeves' Family Absence

Director Steven Soderbergh has been enlisted to complete the final weeks of principal photography for The Batman Part II. He will step in while director Matt Reeves attends to a family matter.

Warner Bros. confirmed that Soderbergh, known for helming films like Ocean's Eleven, will work closely with Reeves and the film's cast and crew to ensure Reeves' original vision is preserved. Soderbergh stated his goal is to "generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what’s already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film," acknowledging the "stunning, intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent" nature of Reeves' work on the first installment.

Reeves is reportedly working on the film remotely, and Soderbergh will hand over post-production duties back to him once filming concludes. This arrangement aims to minimize disruption to the project's schedule.

The Batman Part II has faced prior delays and is currently slated for a February 18, 2028 release. With a relatively small amount of shooting remaining, the studio anticipates this transition may not cause significant further setbacks.

Soderbergh's reputation for efficient production, budget management, and swift shooting is seen as a significant asset in this situation. His extensive experience and directorial accolades, including an Oscar for Best Director, lend considerable prestige to his involvement.
