Netflix has launched a surprise "VHS Special Edition" of Stranger Things Season 1, coinciding with the show's 10th anniversary. The re-released episodes feature new retro visuals and revised audio designed to emulate the experience of watching a VHS tape.
The streaming service described the new version as offering "a video store vibe that's glitchy, grainy and gloriously vintage — just like you'd have rented it in 1983." To access this nostalgic edition, users can search for "Stranger Things: VHS Special Edition" on Netflix.
Stranger Things, set in the 1980s, experienced significant popularity and is credited with renewing interest in aspects of the decade's pop culture, including Dungeons & Dragons. The show's fifth and final season concluded recently. The Duffer Brothers, creators of the series, have stated that they are not planning a sequel that would revisit the characters years later, deeming such a project a "gross cash grab." However, an unnamed live-action spinoff is reportedly in development.
