Peacock has officially announced Ted: The Animated Series, a sequel to the live-action Ted films, will premiere on December 17. The series will launch with eight episodes, with additional installments scheduled for 2027. Created by Seth MacFarlane, Paul Corrigan, and Brad Walsh, the animated show brings back the original movie cast.
Seth MacFarlane reprises his role as the voice of Ted. Mark Wahlberg returns as Ted's best friend John, alongside Amanda Seyfried as John's wife, Sam, and Jessica Barth as Ted's wife, Tami-Lynn. Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman are also joining the cast as series regulars.
The plot synopsis describes the series picking up twelve years after the conclusion of the last film. John and Ted are now neighbors with families and mundane jobs. The story will follow the two friends as they navigate the challenges of adult life, marriage, and parenting, often enabling each other's questionable decisions.
Corrigan and Walsh are serving as co-showrunners, with Rough Draft Studios, Inc. handling the animation. This project marks another collaboration between MacFarlane and Peacock, following the previous live-action Ted: The TV Series.
MacFarlane had previously expressed uncertainty about a potential third season or movie in the live-action franchise due to the expense of bringing the CGI character to life.
