Dark Fantasy and Gritty Action
Among the season's strongest contenders is The Vermilion Mask (Shuiro no Kamen). This seinen series, serialized by Shōnen Gahōsha, is noted for its darker, gorier tone, drawing comparisons to Attack on Titan. Despite its relatively young animation studio, 100studio, early work suggests potential for a breakout hit.
Firefly Wedding (Hotaru no Yomeiri), based on Oreco Tachibana’s historical romance manga, is set in the 1800s and follows a young woman with a heart condition who proposes to her assassin captor. The series is being animated by David Production, known for its work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Fire Force.
Sci-Fi and Unique Premises
Tank Chair presents a unique, albeit expensive, concept: a disabled assassin who uses a mecha wheelchair. The anime adaptation, handled by Polygon Pictures, a studio experienced with 3DCG animation such as Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence and Love, Death & Robots, aims to bring this ambitious manga to life.
Psyren, Toshiaki Iwashiro’s beloved supernatural sci-fi battle shonen, is finally receiving an anime adaptation. While the manga has a strong following, the animation studio Satelight is considered a safe choice, with trailers showing mixed results, tempering expectations despite the source material’s quality.

Super Psychic Policeman Chojo (Choujun! Choujou Senpai), a comedy manga by Shun Numa, is getting an adaptation from Arvo Animation, whose previous work on Kowloon Generic Romance was impressive. The manga's abrupt cancellation adds a layer of intrigue to this adaptation.
Fans of amphibian invaders will be excited for the Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsō) remake. Finally, FX Fighter Kurumi-chan explores an unconventional premise: a psychological drama about a young woman passionate about foreign exchange trading. Animated by Passione, a studio known for more adult-oriented content, this series is generating curiosity due to its unusual subject matter and potential for being an anime equivalent of a "shitpost."
