Contrary to earlier reports, the Harfoots are confirmed to return in Season 3 of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Co-showrunner Patrick McKay stated that the characters have not been written out of the upcoming season, though their presence will be less pronounced than in the show's first two seasons.
McKay explained that the focus for Season 3 is on a more psychological and emotional narrative, with a darker tone. The season will center on Sauron forging the One Ring, aiming to unify all storylines around this central event. To maintain this focus, elements not directly related to the One Ring or Sauron were omitted to avoid feeling forced. However, McKay assured that the Harfoots, and the characters played by Markella Kavenagh and Megan Richardson, will reappear, potentially sooner than expected.
Last season concluded with Nori Brandyfoot and Poppy Proudfellow leaving the Stoors after their home was destroyed. They departed to find a new home, while the Stranger was dubbed "Grand Elf," marking the birth of the name Gandalf. The Rings of Power Season 3 will pick up five years later, chronicling the war against Sauron's efforts to forge the One Ring. The season will also introduce new characters, including an enigmatic Orc with a complex arc.
The first four episodes of The Rings of Power Season 3 are set to premiere on November 11, 2026. Episodes five and six will be released on November 18, with the season finale arriving on November 25.
