Moviegoers will have a chance to revisit Panem later this summer as all five films from The Hunger Games series return to theaters for a limited engagement. These special screenings, organized by Fathom Events, will run for one week, with each film playing on the big screen for a single day.

This cinematic marathon precedes the release of the next installment in the franchise, Sunrise on the Reaping, which is set to debut on November 20. The new film will serve as the second prequel to the original story, focusing on a younger version of Haymitch Abernathy, a character prominently featured in the first film series.
The original The Hunger Games film, released in 2012, introduced audiences to Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence. The story follows her journey as she volunteers for a deadly televised competition in place of her sister, eventually becoming a symbol of rebellion. The film also featured performances from Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, and Stanley Tucci.
Subsequent films in the original series, Catching Fire (2013) and the two-part Mockingjay adaptation (2014-2015), continued Katniss's story. The prequel novel, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, was published in 2020 and adapted into a film in 2023, starring Rachel Zegler as a young Lucy Gray Baird and Tom Blyth as a younger Coriolanus Snow. Sunrise on the Reaping is expected to delve into Haymitch's experience during the 50th Hunger Games, with Joseph Zada portraying the character and a cast including McKenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, and Ralph Fiennes. Reports suggest that Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson may reprise their roles in the upcoming film, hinting at narrative threads extending beyond the original trilogy's conclusion.
