The Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light has been delayed once more, with its release now targeted for March 2027. The game was initially planned for a simultaneous multi-platform launch, but has experienced multiple setbacks on Nintendo's latest console.
007 First Light launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC in late May. The delay for the Switch 2 version is attributed to the platform's lower processing power compared to other current-generation consoles, necessitating additional optimization to ensure a satisfactory player experience. This optimization process has led to the revised March 2027 release window.
The game's development timeline has seen several adjustments. A previous release date of March 27, 2026, was first pushed to May 27, and then, just a month prior, the Switch 2 version was further postponed to "later this summer." IO Interactive has acknowledged these delays, with the developers actively incorporating player feedback to enhance the game's performance on the Switch 2.
Despite these challenges, 007 First Light was featured in the September Nintendo Direct, showcasing its presence on the platform with a previously announced 2026 release window. The game has also been playable at events like Gamescom and will be demonstrated at the Tokyo Game Show, allowing players to experience its performance on the Switch 2 firsthand as developers continue their work.
A specific launch date within March 2027 has not yet been announced.
