IO Interactive has launched a significant new free update for 007 First Light, titled "Extended Operations," now available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This expansion introduces a host of new content, including fresh missions, a photo mode, New Game Plus, additional weapons, and outfits.
The centerpiece of "Extended Operations" is the "Valhalla Protocol," which brings back Bond's Aston Martin Valhalla for a time-trial mission set in Slovakia. This new track features four distinct variations and incorporates the car's signature arsenal of guns and missile launchers, offering a high-octane driving experience.
Players can now capture their most thrilling moments with the addition of a new photo mode. This feature allows for detailed customization of Bond's poses, the use of various filters, and unique lighting setups to create the perfect shot, similar to photo modes found in other modern titles.
A new mission, "Jungle Heist," tasks players with infiltrating a jungle villa to uncover the whereabouts of secret codes, retrieve their contents, and then fight their way to an extraction point.
Bond's arsenal receives two new additions: the Squire Marksman rifle and the Storm 12 shotgun. Complementing these are new cosmetic options, with the Leisure Beam casual outfit, the First Class tuxedo, and the Observant Spy ensemble providing players with fresh ways to customize Bond's appearance.
For those looking to revisit the campaign, the New Game Plus feature allows players to replay the entire 007 First Light campaign while retaining unlocked outfits from their previous playthrough. The "00 difficulty mode" has also been introduced, offering a punishing challenge with limited resources and highly lethal enemies for players seeking the ultimate test of their skills.
IO Interactive has consistently supported 007 First Light with new content since its May launch. In August 2026, the game surpassed a milestone of 4 million units sold across PC and consoles. A Nintendo Switch 2 version has experienced several delays and is now anticipated in March 2027, as IO Interactive works to optimize it for the platform. Amazon Game Studios boss Jeff Gattis has indicated that a sequel is likely in the future.
