007 First Light's First DLC Adds New Game Plus and More

IO Interactive has released the first major DLC for its acclaimed title, 007 First Light. The Extended Operations DLC is available now and adds a suite of new content to the game's TacSim mode, including five new missions, a New Game Plus mode, and additional outfits. A photo mode, notably absent at launch, has also been included.

Four of the new missions will feature the Valhalla supercar, focusing on driving trials that utilize the vehicle's weapons and gadgets within time limits. These missions are separate from existing ones, meaning the Valhalla cannot be substituted into other driving segments at this time.

New Game Plus is a significant addition, especially following the recent path tracing update. This mode introduces a new "00" difficulty level, which promises a considerably higher challenge than the existing Purist setting. Players can expect faster enemy reactions, more difficult NPC variants, and significantly more punishing combat with two-hit kills and a tighter parry window. Weapon animations have also been improved, and enemies can now dislodge players from cliffs, mirroring a mechanic available to the player in the base game.

This free DLC marks the first content-based expansion for 007 First Light. The game received a 9/10 from IGN, which praised its dedication to realizing the Bond fantasy. While a story expansion might have been anticipated by some, the Extended Operations DLC provides a substantial free update for players eager for more content before any potential future official adventures for James Bond. The game is also expected to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point.
