Developer IO has announced a second delay for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light, with the game now slated for a March 2027 release. The studio stated that the additional time is necessary "to ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect" and will be used "toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game."
The Switch 2 edition of First Light was initially planned to launch concurrently with its console and PC counterparts in May. This was later pushed to Summer 2026, but a release date had not been communicated as that season approached its end.
IO boss Hakan Abrak had previously indicated in May that the game required "a bit more time to get it where we want it to be," targeting a late-summer release. Abrak emphasized the desire to ensure the game's quality, stating, "I don’t want to hear it wasn’t a good version."
A version of First Light was recently playable at Gamescom, where IO reported receiving "positive feedback." The same demonstration is scheduled to be available at the Tokyo Game Show this week.
007 First Light has been a commercial success, selling over 4 million copies and receiving critical acclaim. While signs point towards a sequel, none has been officially announced.
